You may or may not have heard of manifesting. Manifesting is the process of thinking, feeling, and desiring something so deeply that it comes into existence. That sounds powerful, almost like magic, but does it work? And how can it make you an author?
The idea of manifestation became wildly popular after the movie The Secret came out in 2006. According to The Secret, everything in this life has vibrational energy. Whatever vibrational energy you are putting out into the world, you are attracting or magnetizing back to you.
So basically, if your life is like a roller coaster full of highs and lows, it may be because these are your inner thoughts. If it is bland and negative, it could be a reflection of how you perceive your situation. If it is full of love and prosperity, it could be because of how you view your worth. Why do criminals seem to find themselves in bad situations even after getting out of jail? The premise is, it comes down to your thoughts.
Your mindset, who you believe you are, what you feel you deserve becomes your reality.
If this is true, then how do you change your current life situation? How do you become what you want to be?
According to The Secret, the answer is simple. You need to have more gratitude in your life.
There are simple exercises to become better at gratitude. One of the simplest ways is to write a list of ten things you are grateful for every day. Another is to keep a reminder rock by your bed and every night hold it and think of what you were most thankful for that day. This seems simple enough. If that is the case, then why isn't everyone's dreams fulfilled?
There are a couple reasons: 1. Gratitude needs to be practice consistently. So many give up on it too quickly before seeing the results and 2. It is not enough to be grateful, you have to be intentional of what you want. You must decide who you want to be and the lifestyle you want and 3. You must take action.
The whole point is, is that gratitude allows you to be grateful and positive, and open to possibilities. Deciding what you want gives you a clear vision and direction. And action helps you take the necessary steps to take you to where you want to be. This is the real key to manifesting.
So how can you use manifesting to help you to become a successful author? Simple, follow the steps. Practice gratitude every day. Envision yourself as a successful author and the lifestyle you want. And lastly, take small steps everyday
So step 1: Every day, write ten things you are grateful for. Give gratitude for everything, including the hardships. Things that are hard in our life are usually lessons that we need to learn/overcome. Love your life and relationships, and you will attract more and better ones.
Step two: Create a vision board, or write a list or short story of what you want your dream life to be like. Feel it. Rejoice in it. Imagine as if you already have it. If you want to be an author, start living your life like an author. What would you do every day? Look in the mirror and give yourself affirmations. Affirmations are I am statements; this allows you to change your identity. When you see yourself differently, you start acting differently.
Step Three: Take steps. It is good to start by taking small steps. Taking too many steps at once maybe seem overwhelming and prevent you from continuing. Take small steps, and then once the ball is rolling, you can add more. Maybe one day you will write a paragraph, then after a month start writing a page, then a chapter, then another. Then once you finish, start editing a page, then hire an editor or ask a friend to edit, then make a summary, send out a query letter, or research self-publishing. Take steps every day.
If you really want to be an author, you have to believe in yourself. You have to take steps consistently. When any challenges arise, just know it is the universe's or God's way of teaching you a lesson. Writing is a challenging journey, but if you want it, imagine it, take steps, you will become it. Good luck.
Here is your first affirmation right now: you are an amazing, talented, gifted author who has a brilliant story to share with the world.
